(a) 17 1/7 mins
(b) 20 mins
(c) 8 mins
(d) none of these
Answer 4 : Let Say tank size is 100 galon

Pipe A takes 20 mins to fill 100 galon
So in 1 Min # 100/20= 5 galon
Pipe b takes 30 mins to fill 100 galon
So in 1 Min # 100/30= 3.34 galon
pipe c takec 40 mins to empty the 100 galon
so in 1 Min # 100/40= 2.5 galon

Now if all work together: (5+3.34)-2.5=5.84 galon fill in one minute, so 100 galon fill in 100/5.84= 17.124 minutes.

The Answer is A. 17 1/7 mins
